Chelsea 1954 Negus New York Brass Ships ClockChelsea clock co, chelsea, ma circa 1954-(serial 597,999 on the case and on the movement) all original yellow brass ship's clock with a six inch 12 hour newly silvered brass dial, original blued moon hands, a small bit seconds hand, and black arabic numerals. It is fitted in a newly polished and sealed yellow brass case with a screw-on bezel. Hsa an 11-jewel lever escapement, an 8 day time-only movement, and a micrometer type pointer regulator. Has negus nwe york in two lines of upper case black letters below the center arbor. Negus bornegus were long term ships chandlers in the new york city areabeginning at the turn of the century. Teh word chelsea appears in black upper case letters within the small bit seconds hand circle. All chelsea maritime/military clocks of this era were built to the exacting specifications of the u. S.
